Who doesn't love a good snowstorm? I can see some now raising their hand! Sure it can be an inconvenience especially if it is a surprise and you don't have time to prepare for it.

The same for when you find yourself searching for a new opportunity. When you get laid off or let go you generally have no or very little time to prepare for what lies ahead.
But if you know it is coming, your gut is telling you your not going to be there much longer you might just have time to: 1. Dust off the resume 2. Strengthen your LinkedIn profile 3. Start to prep for interviews 4. Start to reach out to your network

Having time to prepare for that big snowstorm allows you to: 1. Have food in the house 2. Gas in your car and in the snowblower 3. Have a good book to read 4. Have a fire in the fireplace 5. Maybe have a warm beverage in hand
Same goes for always being prepared for the next opportunity around the corner. 1. Keep your resume up to date 2. Review your LinkedIn profile and keep it updated 3. Never stop networking even when you have a job 4. Never say no to an interview
If you live in the WNY area we have been warned about this snowstorm coming and so many were out grocery shopping during the week, gas station lines were longer than normal, appointments were being rescheduled, and schools closed ahead of the storm. You can never be too prepared!
If you ever have a question about targeting new opportunities don't hesitate to reach out. Hope you have a great, safe and warm weekend wherever you live!
